Manchester United Football Club are returning to action in just a fortnight. Thankfully, the World Cup has kept us all occupied and free from boredom, as things gear up to start again.
Pre-season tour of the United States is just around the corner, and before that, Andreas Pereira has sent a strong message to the manager. He’s ready to become more involved with the first team after two excellent loan spells with Granada and Valencia. Personally, I think he deserves it.
“I told him that I felt ready to compete,” he told Belgium outlet Het Belang van Limburg, per the Manchester Evening News.
“He was happy to hear that and said I would get my chance. Now we will see how it goes in pre-season. Then we are together again, but of course, I hope to convince him.”
“After two good seasons in Spain, I know that I can always go there. Valencia wanted to keep me, but at the moment my goals are in England.
“I want to make it at Manchester United. At Valencia, I have proven that I can participate at the highest level. That’s what I hope to show in Manchester now.”
What’s a huge plus is the fact that the gaffer has told him his chance will come. He’s a clever little player, and this tour of the United States is absolutely vital for him. The young Brazilian simply has to leave an impression on the manager. When the opportunity is presented, he has to take it.
My main concern is about where he plays. There is competition aplenty in his preferred left-wing role, and our midfield has been bolstered with Fred’s arrival. If he can adapt his game to the right-hand side then there may be an opening in that position, but still, it’s going to be tough.
I see him as a squad and rotational player who can fill in numerous positions if someone else is injured or needs a rest. I do hope he sticks around for twelve months, though, as he’s an excellent footballer.
