Pretty much every member in Manchester United’s current playing squad have improved their game under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, although there have been a few standouts.
Amongst those is Marcus Rashford. The superstar 21-year-old has gone from strength-to-strength while playing through the middle as it seems as though he’s learning huge amounts from the Baby Faced Assassin.
What we tend to forget is that Rashford is still so young, although it does feel as though he has been around forever. It’s easy to forget that he’ll have off-days as he continues to develop and learn, although praise for the young Mancunian is coming in from every direction.
The latest comes from another iconic United striker, Andy Cole. The ex-Red Devil stated that Rashford has all the ability in the world, while also stating that you could build the team around him if the manager so chooses.
“Rashford has got all of the ability in the world but you could tell his confidence was waning under the previous manager, it was getting lower and lower,” Cole told Sky Sports‘ Monday Night Football.
“Ole has gone in there and said to him ‘we all know how good you are, just believe in yourself’, and he’s done that.
“When Rashford first came into the team we all knew what he could do. He kind of went away from that a little but now he’s back doing what he’s good at.”
When asked if Solskjaer should build teams around Rashford, Cole responded: “He’s a baby, of
course you can.”
It really is a testament to just how well Rashford has done since breaking through and I guess we owe a huge thank you to Louis van Gaal for that.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that he’s been up there amongst the best out-and-out strikers in the country since Solskjaer took over and the confidence he is showing right now is only making him better.
You look at the way he took his goal against Watford. It was on his weak foot, he remained cool, calm and composed and he took it wonderfully. Then you have the way he struck home the penalty against Paris Saint-Germain. The boy has ice in his veins and we’re so lucky to call him ours.
