Angel Di Maria moved to Manchester United for the money, claims Ancelotti

Angel Di Maria has been a sensation since his record breaking move to Manchester, and the new #7 is winning the hearts of Manchester United fans’ quicker than he could ever have imagined. After scoring on his Old Trafford debut, adding a total of three goals and three assists, the Argentinian is proving to be an instant hit.

Di Maria is such a likeable character, too. He seems to be loving life at his new club, and he always carries a smile on his face. The 26-year old has come out and admitted that United have furthered his career, and adapting to the physicality of the English game doesn’t seem to have been a problem.

However today, his old boss Carlo Ancelotti, has claimed he left Madrid for the money…

“I was in agreement with the club.” Ancelotti said.

“There are times when the club needs to say no. You can’t change the policies of the club for one player.”

“Di Maria asked for a lot of money and preferred to leave to go find it. The club couldn’t give him the money he wanted.”

I’m not sure I wholly agree with this. Obviously money is an important factor in any decision, and at the end of the day its their job and they have families to provide for.

However, the chances are that Angel Di Maria would’ve been left out of the team due to the recently arrival of James Rodriguez, and we all know that Madrid’s policy means they have to sell big as well as buy big – thats their business model.

He seems pretty happy in Manchester to me, Mr Ancelotti…
