Ole Gunnar Solskjaer just cannot catch an injury break at the moment, can he? Just as players are returning, it seems as though others are being lost.
The latest? Luke Shaw. According to the official club website, the left-back has pulled out of England duty due to an unspecified injury.
Shaw follows Anthony Martial in pulling out of serving their respective country’s over the next fortnight – and it’s becoming a worrying trend as the season gets to the business end.
The games have begun to mount up while it’s clear for everyone to see that Solskjaer’s regime is far more strenuous than Jose Mourinho’s. The players are working harder, pushing their bodies further, this was always going to happen.
Perhaps next season it’ll ease up as the squad gets used to the style, but for now it’s just something that we have to live with.
Thankfully, Shaw now has two weeks to get himself back fit due to the international break, but it must hurt him having to pull out – particularly as there are so many talented left-backs in the squad at the moment – and it may well be tough for Shaw to force his way back in…
