Anthony Elanga has emerged as a transfer target for Borussia Dortmund.
Manchester United’s form of late has the rest of the Premier League taking note. Rightly so, too.
Erik ten Hag is building something. Slowly but surely. We’re witnessing the squad being moulded right before our eyes. Some players flourish, others go the opposite way.
One man who probably isn’t featuring as much as he’d have liked is Anthony Elanga. The Swede, who was somewhat prominent under the previous regime, has been limited to bit-part minutes – even without Jadon Sancho being involved right now.
It’s no surprise then, to hear that clubs are circling around for his signature. It’s TalkSPORT with the latest information. Their Alex Crook states that the United player has emerged as a ‘shock’ transfer target for Borussia Dortmund.
On top of that, it’s written that Elanga could be allowed to leave this month as he’s fallen down the pecking order.
Everton and Bournemouth are also credited with an interest in the Swede, who won’t be short of options should United decide to cash in.
The prospect of Elanga moving to the Bundesliga, and joining a top club like Dortmund, could be attractive to the winger, whose growth has stagnated.
The fact that a top side like Dortmund are showing interest should tell you everything you need to know about Elanga’s ability. He has the potential. Sadly, it’s just not really worked out for him here.
It’s stated that Elanga’s short-term future could hinge on United recruiting another winger first. I’ll be honest, that looks unlikely, but if Sancho can return to the first-team fold before the end of the month, that situation could change again.
In our opinion, a loan move away feels like a good idea. Elanga is talented, sadly, he’s just going through a bit of a tough spell.
