Anthony Elanga expected to stay at Man United rather than leave on loan: report

Anthony Elanga looks like he’s secured a place in the Man United first team.

Manchester United offered us a glimpse into the future at the back end of last season, with Anthony Elanga definitely grabbing his chance with both hands.

The young Swede would play with purpose, intent and desire. He’d be rewarded by scoring a lovely goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day.

In all honesty, it felt like this was just a taste of the first-team fold before Elanga would head out on loan this season. Well, I’m happy to report I was wrong.

Now, it’s expected that the 19-year-old United starlet is expected to stay at the club, rather than move on loan. Furthermore, the Reds coaches are impressed with his application and ability – with Elanga all-but sealing his place within the first-team. That’s according to Laurie Whitwell, who writes about it in The Athletic.

There’s no doubt about it, Elanga is an incredibly gifted young man who has all the attributes to go right to the very top.

It’s also easy to forget that but for injury, the winger would have already been given his chance six months prior. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes in Elanga. Having that trust can only be a positive for the player.

After a strong start in pre-season, Elanga would miss the last couple of games with injury but he’s now back in training which is good news.

I don’t doubt we’ll see a heavy dose of the teenager over the course of the long season.

The thing that serves him very well is versatility. Elanga can play on either wing or through the middle if needed. It means that there’s several pathways into the starting line-up for the United academy graduate, who is definitely on a mission to cement his place within the side.

Getting by the likes of Jadon Sancho, Dan James and Mason Greenwood isn’t going to be easy, but this boy is special.

Is Anthony Elanga good enough for the man United first team? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
