Anthony Elanga has spoken very highly about the new Man United signing, Christian Eriksen.
Manchester United Football Club are progressing nicely under Erik ten Hag, though there’s obviously an awful long way to go before this team is anything close to being the finished product.
Signings will obviously help speed up that process, with Ten Hag already bringing in a few new faces. Amongst those new additions is ex-Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder, Christian Eriksen.
The Dane was brought in on a free transfer after his Brentford contract expired, with Eriksen choosing to head to the Theatre of Dreams, rather than staying with the London club.
We’re yet to see Eriksen in training with his new teammates, or in action in a game, though his teammates are already giving us some insight.
Man United man, Anthony Elanga, is already full of praise for his ‘special’ teammate Eriksen. The Swede also believes his new Scanadanavian friend will be a ‘great contributor’ to this team.
Check out what Elanga had to say in full here:
“Another Scandinavian in the team is special,” Elanga told ManUtd.com. “That makes three of us now in the team and it’ll be nice to meet him and play with him.
“He’s a special player, a really good player and I’ve played against him. I had the honour to play against him last season and you could see his qualities from there,” said Elanga.
“I feel like he’ll be a great contributor to the team.
“I’m really looking forward to playing with him and hopefully he’ll put some balls in behind for me to run on to. That will be nice!”
There’s no better insight into how good a player is than what their fellow professionals say about them. First and foremost, Eriksen seems like a really likeable bloke which is always important.
Elanga seems super happy about the prospect of lining up alongside a clever player like Eriksen, who will always pick the right pass and seek out the correct man. He’s a completely different type of player to Bruno Fernandes who’ll take risks. Rather, Eriksen will keep it simple and ensure possession remains with United.
This is someone who is well-versed in possession-based systems and don’t forget Ten Hag worked with him up close and personal back in January when Eriksen was working his way back to fitness. That bond has already been formed and I can’t wait to see it translate out on the field.
I’m a little sad that Eriksen hasn’t joined up with the pre-season tour squad, though hopefully, we’ll get to see him play in at least one fixture before the serious stuff starts next month.
