Anthony Elanga was the standout performer for Man United last night, during their disappointing pre-season loss to QPR.
Man United would quickly like to forget about their 4-2 defeat on the whole, with some calamitous playing out from the back coupled with some genuinely awful performances.
However, here at Old Trafford Faithful, we try to spread positivity wherever possible. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t be taking many positives out of this one, though our gaffer can look to the young Anthony Elanga for some joy.
The young Swede would come on at half-time and he’d become our biggest goal threat. Pace, directness, a real on-ball intelligence. He’d score a lovely goal to cap off a really bright individual performance.
After breaking through into the first-team mix at the back end of last season, Elanga must be delighted with the way things are now going for him. It wasn’t too long ago when he suffered a pretty serious injury, ruling him out of action for a few months. Make no mistake about it, if that didn’t happen, the winger would already be a mainstay in Solskjaer’s plans.
I do hope that Elanga is kept around for the 2021/22 term as he already looks good enough. Sure, confidence is fierce but this boy can compete with anyone. I’d honestly say there’s already not much between himself and Dan James, which is a testament to just how talented Elanga is. Hopefully, this is the start of a very promising career.
As you’d imagine, the 19-year-old would earn praise from fans after a top cameo vs QPR. Long may this continue!
