Anthony Elanga open to loan move despite Man United first-team breakthrough: report

Anthony Elanga made a name for himself on the season’s final day with a stunning header against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Now, it’s about what comes next for the Swede.

It’s common knowledge that Elanga was due to be promoted to the first-team about six months earlier, though an injury kiboshed those plans pretty quickly.

In the end, Elanga would have to wait right until the end of the season for an opportunity. He’d make a couple of starts and look rather impressive on both of them. Like any good player, the winger is now looking forward.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 19-year-old United starlet who made his big breakthrough is now planning talks about his future. He wants to discuss plans for next season after his returns from international duty.

It’s claimed by the MEN that Elanga is open to a loan move away – but only if the right opportunity comes along. Don’t worry, the Swede’s long-term future is secured as he signed a professional contract back in March.

I guess it all comes down to what Solskjaer wants. If the Baby Faced Assassin is keen to keep Elanga around and can promise him real minutes, then I’d imagine the winger will stay in Manchester.

However, if the rumours are true and United are pushing hard to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, I’m just not sure where Elanga would fit in. He’d be behind Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Daniel James, Amad Diallo and Sancho in the pecking order to play out wide. There wouldn’t be many chances for minutes at all.

If a lower-tier Premier League side or a high-end Championship club come in and offer Elanga regular starts, that’d certainly be an avenue worth exploring.
