Erik ten Hag has improved the attitude within that Man United dressing room, Anthony Elanga has admitted.
Manchester United Football Club are in the middle of a rebuilding process that’s going to take some time. We’re under no illusions. This was never going to be something that simply happens overnight.
Erik ten Hag’s style is different to those of the past. This club needs to back their new manager. The signs are there. United look instantly better under the Dutchman than they have done in many-a-year gone by.
The whole outlook around the place just looks better. The lads are smiling in training. They’re enjoying playing for the badge again. That’s no coincidence.
Now, one United star in the form of Anthony Elanga, has pointed to the biggest positive change made by Ten Hag. The Swede has highlighted the positive attitude about the place, while everyone seems to know their role within this current system.
Check out what Elanga had to say in full here:
“If I have to say one thing [that’s changed under Ten Hag], it’s attitude. Our attitude has improved a lot. We are more focused and know what to do. We play as a team.” Elanga told Fotbollskanalen, via @UtdReport.
This is just so refreshing to hear. From outsiders looking in, this may not seem like a big deal. However, for many years, United haven’t had any real direction whatsoever. You look at signings made in the past, with the club worrying about where to fit them in later as a mere afterthought.
Elanga himself is the perfect example. Last year, he didn’t really have a role outside of running at defenders with pace and looking to hit them on the counter-attack. This year, he looks like a far more well-rounded player, with Ten Hag utilising the Swede to great effect, particularly against Liverpool.
At the highest level, it is 100% about playing as a team and knowing your individual role. United players performed for themselves last season. That will not happen under their new Dutch manager. Give Ten Hag time and money, I truly believe we’ll see the glory days return again.
