Anthony Martial is attracting interest from Turkish side Fenerbahce, as the January transfer window is now open.
Manchester United still have plenty of dead-wood on their books. All of whom should probably be sold if the club is keen on progressing forward. Sometimes, you have to step backwards to move forward. This feels like a classic case of that.
Perhaps the footballer who epitomises that more than anyone is Anthony Martial. The Frenchman, who has been struggling to find any consistent minutes over the last couple of years, sees his contract expire this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds aren’t planning on renewing his deal – unless there’s a willing buyer during this current transfer window.
However, Turkish claims from Takvim believe that interest could generate from Fenerbahce. The out-of-favour United star is attracting interest from the Turkish giants during the current transfer window.
There’s no doubt about it, Martial needs a transfer away in order to get his career back on track. He’s 28 now and he’s just dwindling out as a footballer, wasting away on United’s bench.
A move to the Turkish Super Lig could kickstart his career, where there’s a genuine opportunity to win some trophies, too.
The question is, would Martial be okay with making that step down? It’d probably be curtains on his international career, but regular minutes should fall straight into his lap, assuming he can stay fit.
He’d also be joining Fred, who made the move to Fenerbahce over the summer. The man from Brazil seems to be having a good time over in Turkey, so no doubt he’s already in Martial’s ear trying to persuade the Frenchman to follow suit.
