Anthony Martial has admitted that he’s chomping at the bit to get back out on the pitch.
Manchester United Football Club lifted their first trophy in over five years this weekend, overcoming Newcastle United 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final.
In that game, Wout Weghorst continued to lead the line in the injury absence of Anthony Martial, who has seriously struggled this season.
The Frenchman’s pre-season form left us all excited at the prospect of a top tier campaign from the club number nine, though that hasn’t happened at all.
Well, Martial is on the comeback trail once again, doing some individual training at the AON Training Complex last week.
Yesterday, Martial was in the dressing room with his teammates, all-smiles holding the Carabao Cup trophy aloft, admitting he ‘can’t wait to be back’ out on the pitch with his teammates.

At this point, it feels like this season is a write-off for Martial. He just keeps suffering setback after setback. Which is obviously frustrating for both player and fans.
That begs the question; how long will Ten Hag continue to put up with Martial’s lack of availability? He’s a manager who demands everything from his players. Keeping fit is atop that list…
It’s a tricky situation as, when fit, Martial has shown he has what it takes to play at a high level in this system. That alone would make it a bold decision to cash in on the Frenchman this summer.
Hopefully, Martial’s injury problems are behind him, meaning he’ll finish the season strong and offer us a glimpse into what he can do going into the 2023/24 campaign.
