Anthony Martial has now officially confirmed that he will leave Man United this summer.
Manchester United were always going to undergo major change this summer. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is intent on hitting the reset button, clearing some dead wood and effectively starting again from scratch.
With that, comes big decisions to be made in terms of playing personnel. The club have already allowed Raphael Varane to walk away for free, saving massive space in terms of the weekly wage. It was always expected that his countryman, Anthony Martial, would likely follow suit.
Now, the man himself has confirmed exactly that. The United player took to Instagram to confirm his summer exit from the Old Trafford club, sending an emotional message to the fans after a nine-year stay in Manchester.
Martial had barely played under Erik ten Hag due to injuries, with the ex-AS Monaco man struggling to stay fit – which seems to be a theme of the Dutchman’s reign at the Theatre of Dreams.

It’s a shame really. Martial arrived at United with promise aplenty surrounding him. After a positive start, it fizzled out pretty quickly and the attacker never really lived up to the hype. Injuries haven’t helped, while a care-free attitude also played some part.
United take some of the blame, too. Martial was in and out of the team a lot, meaning it was tough for him to find that consistency. No doubt he’ll go on to enjoy himself elsewhere, assuming he and his agents make the correct decision when it comes to selecting a new club.
