Man United star, Anthony Martial, is rated as doubtful for the Omonia Europa League game tomorrow.
Manchester United Football Club have been in decent form lately, with the Old Trafford club looking to prove they’re a side on the up under Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils’ attention turns back to Europa League football this midweek, with United looking to make it two wins from two against Omonia at Old Trafford on Thursday.
This match will not be easy. The away leg against Neil Lennon’s side proved that. Hence, Ten Hag will likely name a strong XI once again, despite several youngsters being involved in first-team training.
Ahead of that match, the official club website have provided us with the injury latest. Understandably, all the fans’ concern is about the fitness of Anthony Martial.
So how is the Frenchman doing?
Well, we know it’s a back issue. Though the club officially rated the key United star as doubtful for this Europa League game against Omonia…
In our opinion, that’s good news.
To us, that reads as the injury not being serious. He has a chance of featuring here in the Europa League, meaning we can 100% say the problem isn’t anything long-term.
With Martial being doubtful, I’m not saying I’d risk him here. Rather, it probably makes more sense to rest the Frenchman and give his body time to heal. Then, he could be in contention to play some part against Newcastle United this Sunday. With respect to Omonia, that’s obviously the more important match.
Either way, we have to view this as a positive. Martial isn’t looking like being set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines – which hopefully means he should be back available for selection sooner rather than later.
