Anthony Martial’s time at Manchester United may well be winding down to an end…

Manchester United thought they’d unearthed a gem in Anthony Martial, with the then-teenager scoring against Liverpool on debut, sending Old Trafford into joy.

The Frenchman would enjoy a stellar first year at the Theatre of Dreams, scoring goals galore and proving himself worthy of a regular starting spot.

However, over the years, Martial’s growth has stagnated, with the attacker not kicking on as much as we’d all hoped. The 2020/21 campaign was undoubtedly his toughest yet, with Martial’s task becoming even greater due to the arrival of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.

Well, Martial’s time here in Manchester could be winding down to an end if the latest report from Eurosport is to be believed.

Apparently, the 78-goal United star has been given the ‘green light’ to find a new club, with the player ‘open’ to a Premier League stay, while also entertaining offers from abroad. Both Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona are named as potential suitors.

The 25-year-old has a few years left on his current deal so he obviously wouldn’t come cheap, though his £250k-a-week wages could become a problem for any potential buyer.

Eurosport go as far as claiming that a January move away could be in the offing for Martial, particularly if he continues to sit on the bench.

Although Martial himself is ‘desperate’ to play a part for United, he would not hesitate to leave if minutes do not come his way.

At this point, I’d cash in while Martial’s value remains high. This is a man who is incredibly talented, though just doesn’t fit into Solskjaer’s plans at this moment in time.

I think we’d all had higher hopes for Martial but inconsistency still plagues his game and unless you’re performing at a top level week-in-week-out, you’re just not going to be able to break into this United starting line-up…
