Anthony Martial gives Man United a derby day boost, he’s fit enough to play

Anthony Martial has given Manchester United a lift ahead of derby day. The Frenchman is fit enough to play.

The former AS Monaco man was unfortunately ruled out of the RB Leipzig game with a thigh issue, though thankfully, that problem wasn’t a long-term one.

Although Martial’s form hasn’t been anywhere near good enough this season, it’s obviously miles better to have him fit and available than watch him sit on the treatment table unable to be called upon.

Now, the United star has given the reds an injury boost, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Martial is available to play in the derby tomorrow night.

Here’s what Solskjaer said to reporters in regards to having Anthony Martial available for the derby:

“Anthony will definitely be involved and Edinson has been on the grass today,” Ole told ManUtd.com. “But I’m not sure if he’ll make it. Apart from that, we’ve had a couple of days of recovery and we should be ready.”

Unfortunately, Edinson Cavani is looking likely to miss this one, though at least one of Tuesday’s absentees will be fit and available for the Baby Faced Assassin to call upon here.

For Martial, he’s presented with a massive opportunity. What better way to re-endear yourselves to the Old Trafford faithful than by putting in a top performance against Manchester City?

Given United’s lack of options in the final third of the field, you’d imagine Martial is quite likely to start this one as the main striker. It’s obviously going to be a difficult evening against an excellent opponent, though you always have to back United players to come out on top.

I guess the only concern is that you don’t want to overwork your squad. This is a season in which games are more jam-packed than ever before. The last thing you want is to rush Martial back out there, only to lose him again for an even longer period of time.

In the end, I guess it’s all about winning the three points tomorrow night at Old Trafford.

Come on lads!
