Anthony Martial is improving on the road back from injury, with Erik ten Hag hoping he’s back sooner rather than later.

Manchester United games are coming thick and fast at this point in the season, with the powers that be looking to pack in the games ahead of the World Cup.

Times like this require a deep squad if you’re serious about challenging in some capacity. Sadly, the Red Devils have struggled in that regard. They’ve been without some key faces for longer periods of time.

Anthony Martial fits that bill more than most, with the Frenchman looking threatening during limited minutes due to consistent niggling injury issues.

Now, ahead of the Sheriff game, Ten Hag has stated that the condition of the United star is ‘improving’, with Martial back training. However, he’s not with the first-team group, though the boss is hoping he’s ‘quickly back’ in that setting.

Check out what Erik ten Hag had to say on the Anthony Martial injury front:

“He’s improving. He’s back on the [training] pitch, not in the group so we have to wait for that step. But hopefully he’s quickly back.” Ten Hag told the media, including ManUtd.com.

It’s a tricky situation. The temptation to throw Martial in is real. Simply because he’s been brilliant when playing.

However, you do not want to rush him back to the starting line-up, risking a further setback as a result.

At this point, I would absolutely approach this one cautiously. Slowly build Martial’s minutes up off the substitutes bench ahead of the World Cup, with a view to the striker starting games upon the resumption of domestic football towards the back end of December.
