Anthony Martial will not feature vs Real Sociedad this evening, with the Frenchman still out injured.
Manchester United Football Club take on Real Sociedad in the Europa League this evening, with the Red Devils looking to start off on a high.
This game will not be easy. United have always struggled when taking on Spanish opposition, so we should expect a tough outing yet again here in front of the Old Trafford Faithful.
No doubt Erik ten Hag is toying with the idea of changing up his starting line-up, in order to keep his Premier League regulars fit and fresh. However, one man who will not be involved is Anthony Martial.
The French striker has been nursing an injury over the last fortnight, after playing a brilliant second half against Liverpool. Sadly, we haven’t seen Martial since.
While speaking to the media yesterday, Ten Hag confirmed that the key United star is still missing, though Martial is progressing on that front…
Check out what Ten Hag had to say as Anthony Martial is out injured:
“Yes, he is still out. He is progressing but he is not ready to get back into team training or in a game.” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com.
As you’d expect, Ten Hag is remaining tight-lipped and not wanting to give too much away. However, Martial is not yet back in full training, so I’d be surprised if we see him against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The last thing you want to do is to rush Martial back into action before he’s ready to come back. In doing that, you risk further injury for the striker, who has looked super sharp whenever he has been out on the pitch under Ten Hag.
When Martial is back and fully firing, make no mistake about it, his return will feel like having a new signing. I genuinely believe he’ll be amongst the first names on the team sheet, while the goals and assists will start to flow.
