Anthony Martial’s Man United exit looms, with Sevilla set to acquire his services until the summer.
Manchester United Football Club are jam-packed with quality in the final third of the field. If anything, Ralf Rangnick is probably overstocked in terms of sheer volume of players.
With that in mind, it only makes sense for some of those faces to leave – particularly those who aren’t happy due to a lack of playing time. Jesse Lingard certainly falls into that bracket, as does Anthony Martial.
The Frenchman’s future has been up in the air all January, perhaps even more so after a very public spat with United’s German boss.
Now, it looks as though his departure from Old Trafford, albeit on loan, is pretty much signed and sealed. The story comes from James Ducker of the Telegraph.
Apparently, the United star is flying from Paris to Spain today, in order to undergo his medical ahead of a short-term Reds exit on a six-month loan.
At this point, this is exactly what Martial needs. I’d probably assume that United would have preferred a permanent deal to let the Frenchman leave. However, at least they won’t have to worry about his wages for the remainder of this campaign.
If anything, this could benefit United, assuming Martial does well over in Spain. His transfer value could rise if the former AS Monaco man starts scoring goals galore.
I know it probably hasn’t gone as well as everyone would have hoped for Martial over the last couple of years. Nobody can deny his talent and natural ability, though. I hope Spain allows him to get away from the pressure-cooker that is United and just get back to enjoying his football.
