We need to talk about Anthony Martial, who dropped another worrying performance vs Fulham last night…
The Red Devils would head back North sitting top of the Premier League table again, though it certainly was a scary second-half for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his boys.
Credit where it’s due, Fulham were great. Scott Parker has that squad fighting and scrapping for their lives and I was thoroughly impressed with how they played.
From a United standpoint, it was a weird performance. I wouldn’t necessarily say we were bad, it’s just that we didn’t set the world alight with our flawless attacking play.
The main factor behind that was due to the lack of quality in wide areas. Mason Greenwood is struggling for confidence right now, though the major concern for me is Anthony Martial.
Our French number nine is an insanely gifted footballer who was truly breathtaking at times last season. However this term, it’s just not happening for him.
He’s been pretty good in the build-up play but sometimes, he just looks too disinterested and doesn’t work hard enough. When you see Edinson Cavani working his socks off in the 90th minute, it does make you wonder why Martial, who is almost 10 years younger, can’t do the same.
It’s less noticeable when he’s scoring goals and getting himself in on the action, though at this stage, he’s not even getting into threatening positions which is a major issue.
I don’t doubt that Martial will have a purple patch at some point this season, though for now, I’m glad I’m not the only one who is feeling pretty down on the former AS Monaco man…
Manchester United fans would take to Twitter to express their concerns with the 25-year-old, whose struggles continued against Fulham last night…
