Anthony Martial will remain sidelined as Man United take on Spurs later today.
Suddenly, the games will start to come thick and fast for Manchester United ahead of the World Cup. Erik ten Hag’s side absolutely need to use this period to push on and prove that they deserve their place in the upper echelons of the Premier League table.
Today, Tottenham Hotspur visit the Theatre of Dreams in a game that’s obviously going to be super close. Antonio Conte’s side have been in good form, with United needing to be at their best to scoop all three points here.
Well, the Old Trafford club will have to do it without Anthony Martial.
During his pre-match presser, the boss confirmed that the key United star is ‘not available’ for this one as Martial will remain sidelined through injury. On top of that, Christian Eriksen is a game-time decision, while the Reds will ‘have to wait’ on his fitness for this one.
Check out what Erik ten Hag on Anthony Martial remaining sidelined here:
“Anthony Martial is not available,” the boss told ManUtd.com. “[With Christian] Eriksen, we have to wait. He was just on the pitch. We have to see how he recovers from that and then we will make a decision tomorrow.”
Martial picked up his injury in the game against Everton a week or so ago, coming off after just half an hour. This is the second time he’s suffered an injury since the season started, after coming into the campaign with an issue.
At this point, Martial’s problems are starting to mount up. It’s hard to come back from these niggling injuries when you come into the season with a problem.
Eriksen’s illness isn’t too serious, thankfully he’s already back out there – but United will not be rushing the Dane back anytime soon. No doubt the attacking midfielder has been a superb addition to the squad, and United play better with him, so I still believe there’s a chance we see the ex-Spurs man out there in some capacity this evening.
