Anthony Martial won’t take part in France training due to injury: report

Anthony Martial is struggling for fitness after suffering a knee injury last time out.

Here at Old Trafford Faithful, we’ve been keeping up with the Anthony Martial injury latest. Last we heard, the Frenchman was uncertain to play for his country in their last World Cup qualifying game of this international break.

Now, we’ve been given another update and it comes directly from the horse’s mouth. Didier Deschamps was speaking to the media, including L’Equipe. He has confirmed that the United star will not take part in France training with the knee injury. He still has pain, though the good news is that there was no serious damage suffered.

Check out what Didier Deschamps had to say here:

“Anthony has a small issue on his knee. Nothing is decided yet. He won’t be taking part in the training session a bit later. We’ll see tomorrow. Anything serious has been dismissed. We’ve run some tests, but there’s still the pain, and having travelled as long as we have, that hasn’t helped.

I feel for Martial, I really do. After having a brilliant 2019-20 campaign, the Frenchman has been struggling for any sort of form whatsoever. There have been glimpses and moments of the old Martial, but questions have rightly been asked about whether he’s good enough to take United forward.

The injuries haven’t helped in that regard, while at the moment, Martial is really lacking in confidence. What’s most disappointing to me, though, is the fact that he hasn’t developed as a player.

Now aged 25, you’d have hoped that United’s number nine would have kicked it up a notch. Instead, he’s still offering exactly the same on the field as he did on the day he signed. That has to be a concern.

It leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a massive decision to make. Does he stick with Martial? Or does he spend big to bring in someone who will guarantee 25+ goals a season. Personally, I’m running out of patience but the Baby Faced Assassin is extremely loyal to his players.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how this one plays out.
