Anthony Martial’s contract talks with Manchester United are at a ‘standstill’ according to French media outlet RMC, translated by Sport Witness.
Apparently, Tottenham Hotspur is showing an interest in the French sensation, who’s current deal expires during the summer of 2019; although United have the option to extend that by a further twelve months if they so choose.
The 22-year-old’s agent is believed to have met the club back in December, with United expected to send him an offer. However, nothing arrived and that’s obviously a concern for the former AS Monaco man.
Since his arrival two-and-a-half seasons ago, Martial has been sensational for the Red Devils. He’s scored hugely important goals, put in some wonderful individual performances and week-on-week he gives his all.
Sure, there isn’t any rush to get the deal done but it’s key to make players feel loved and wanted. If they don’t, footballers could easily decide not to sign a new deal then leave for free at the end of their current contract; Arsenal being the prime example of that recently. We don’t want that situation to occur, but in all honesty, I’d be surprised if Martial headed to Spurs.
