After giving up the much coveted #7 shirt in the summer, we’ve seen glimpses of Antonio Valencia back to his brilliant best. Sadly, we’ve also seen this slump in form continue and the 28-year old is being targeted by Galatasaray and their new boss Roberto Mancini, claim the Turkish newspaper Fanatik.
Valencia has recently found himself out of the starting XI with Nani being the preferred choice on the right. United also have Wilfried Zaha waiting in the wings for his chance, and boy-wonder Adnan Januzaj can play out on the right too.
The fee being reported is around the £12.5m mark, and Galatasaray will pay Valencia £3.5m a year in wages. Although they will face stiff competition from Everton who are interested in the player as part of a deal which could see Leighton Baines go in the opposite direction.
Personally I’d rather see Ashley Young leave the club. We have more competition on the left than we do on the right, and if we were to sell Valencia and Nani picked up an injury, that would mean the only natural right-winger in the squad would be Zaha and he hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football for the club yet.
