Antony looked pretty happy with himself as he was named Player of the Match following his top display against Reading in the FA Cup.
Manchester United always felt like the side in the ascendency against Reading at Old Trafford last night, though credit where it’s due, our opponents made it a difficult match.
Erik ten Hag was proven right to name a strong side for the encounter, and the Red Devils eventually came out on top.
There can be no doubt that Casemiro will steal all the headlines after his brilliant brace, though he certainly had help from his Brazil compatriot, Antony.
The winger has divided opinion over the last few weeks, though you can clearly see the talent and ability is there for Antony to go a long way within this sport.
Last night, he put in a top display. For that performance, Antony was named the FA Cup Player of the Match and rightly so, too. That ball alone into Casemiro for the opener means he was a worthy winner of this personal accolade.

With any new signing, patience is required. Fans are quick to jump on Antony, largely because he’s so one-footed, though he has certainly made us a better team.
Antony may not be that speedy winger who goes past players with sheer pace and power, though he’s a very intelligent footballer who uses the ball well. He makes good runs, makes the right decision and is always in the right place at the right time. Factor in that wicked left foot and he’s been a really good footballer to watch.
Yes, there is absolutely room for growth. I’d love to see him develop some sort of right-foot over the next year or so, then we could be looking at someone who really is a complete player.
Congratulations, Antony!
