Man United are pushing hard to bring Antony to Old Trafford this summer.
Manchester United Football Club have made four big signings thus far. Erik ten Hag is slowly but surely being delivered a playing squad that suits his style of football.
Close to the top of list of needs is a winger. Antony has been the priority target in that regard, with a move for the Brazilian seemingly nudging ever closer.
Ten Hag is looking to surround himself with familiarity. He has worked with Antony previously – to great effect I may add.
Antony contributed directly to over 20 goals last term, with United still doing everything within their power to get this deal done.
The latest update comes from Fabrizio Romano, who states that Antony is now their ‘total priority’ signing. The Reds have communicated their plan to submit a new proposal to Ajax, in an effort to get the deal done ‘as soon as possible’.
On top of that, a five-year deal with the player has already been agreed. This move is now solely dependent on the club’s coming to some sort of arrangement in regards to the transfer fee.
Antony, aged just 22, will bring the tricks and flicks to the table. He’s a player who performs with flair, excitement and genuine intent. I really do believe this would be an excellent piece of business, though that will come at a huge cost.
Ajax, who have already lost some key players during this window, aren’t going to let Antony leave on the cheap. There’s talk that this deal is going to cost in excess of £75million. That’s obviously a vast amount of money, for a player who probably isn’t worth that as things stand.
I guess for United, it’s about the need to bring in a new wide man. Antony is the player who Ten Hag really wants – and it’s not as if the Old Trafford club cannot afford to overpay.
