Antony was fit after Man United’s final training session before the game against Bournemouth, despite his absence from the squad…
Manchester United are now winless in their last four matches. The Red Devils’ poor form has all-but ended their chances at finishing in the Champions League places for next season. As a result, Erik ten Hag’s future is far from secure.
Injuries haven’t helped, though some strange managerial decisions have left plenty of eyebrows raised, too. Among the latest weird choices was the fact that Antony wasn’t even on the bench against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Speculation went into overdrive suggesting that Antony and Erik ten Hag had had a disagreement, with the Brazilian apparently storming out of training upon learning he wouldn’t be starting the game. Others suggested that the ex-Ajax man was dealing with an illness.
Well, the reputable Insider United has given his take on the situation. He claimed that the United star was ‘100% fit’ after Friday’s training session, while he heard nothing in regard to a falling out. Maybe it was just a tactical decision to leave Antony out vs Bournemouth? Maybe he fell ill overnight?
Check out Insider United’s X post on the news here:
Antony was 100% fit after Fridays team sessions, weather he got an illness that ruled him out of yesterdays game, I don’t know, not hearing any news of a fall out between him and management as of yet so won’t make up anything or speculate. 👊🏽

In my opinion, the latter seems more likely. Antony may have picked up a sickness bug in the 24 hours after the final training session and before the game. The bench looked so young on Saturday so I struggle to believe that Antony wouldn’t have been picked if he was fit.
I’d also argue that the winger has been in pretty decent form over the last couple of weeks. He’s played his part against Liverpool and Chelsea, looking sharp off the substitutes bench in both. He would have been in the squad if he was healthy.
Hopefully, Antony is back available for selection soon.
