Apple are not interested in purchasing Man United.
For Manchester United fans everywhere, it has been a super weird week. Cristiano Ronaldo has left the club for good. The Portugal international saw his contract terminated by mutual consent.
No sooner than a few hours later, that news was trumped by some huge Glazer family information. The club confirmed they’re looking for other investors – be it a permanent sale or a partial one. Moves are now being made.
United being linked with every buyer under the sun was always going to be the case. After all, this is the biggest club in the country – maybe even the world.
The weirdest story claimed tech giants Apple were keen. If that deal happened, United would suddenly have the richest owners within the beautiful game.
Sadly, that’s not going to be happening. One journalist, Joe Rossignol, has it on ‘very good authority’ that the major company is not planning to buy the club. Ah well, it was fun to dream…
Check out Joe Rossignol’s tweet on the news here:
Sadly we’re not going to watch iMUFC play at the iOld Trafford arena anytime soon…
Jokes aside, it would’ve been weird to see Apple invest in sport. They’re a major brand who aren’t planning on alienating some of their customers anytime soon.
For United fans, it’s now a nervous (and possibly long) wait to see who actually buys the club. I wouldn’t be thrilled if some major country like Saudi Arabia bought the club through my own fear of sport washing. I’ve been vocal in being against City and Newcastle for that, so I wouldn’t want to be made a hypocrite.
At the end of the day, this is something we supporters cannot control, so we’ll just have to see how it plays out.
