Arjen Robben has been targeted by Louis van Gaal as the latest potential recruit, claim the Daily Mail. Alongside Robben, 30, Schweinsteiger is also high on Van Gaal’s wish list, with the Bayern Munich duo set to consider working with Louis van Gaal again.
Arjen Robben put in an wonderful performance against Spain on Friday night, scoring two absolutely world class goals. At 30, he shown that he still has the pace to burn past one of the fastest defenders in world football in the form of Sergio Ramos, and he still has an excellent finish to match.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is also being targeted by Louis van Gaal, after the pair previously worked together at Bayern Munich five years ago. The midfielder doesn’t suit Pep Guardiola’s style of play, and he could be available for as little as £10million if you believe reports.
The pair are both ageing, but can come in and make an instant impact, which is exactly what Manchester United need if they want to get back to the top. My only worry would be persuading them to come in without Champions League football on offer, because surely these two want to be playing in Europe’s premier competition?
The Mail also add that if United were to get Robben and Schweinsteiger, Wayne Rooney could be deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Just how good would it be if United signed both Robben and Schweinsteiger? Leave your thoughts in the comment box below.
