Arnau Puigmal leaving Man United this summer, set to join Almeria: report

Earlier in the month, Arnau Puigmal announced he will be leaving Manchester United.

The young Spaniard signed for Manchester United in 2017 and always looked like someone who could eventually make an impact at the first-team level.

Over the last twelve months or so, Puigmal’s growth has been stunted somewhat. Without wanting to watch his career pass him by, the midfielder decided to take action. He formally announced he’d be walking away from Old Trafford this summer when he contract ends.

Now, the 20-year-old United starlet has found a new club. He’ll leave the Reds this summer and sign a five-year deal with Almeria, according to Grada3.

At Almeria, Puigmal will immediately have a friend in another former Reds star, Largie Ramazani, who departed in similar fashion last summer.

For Puigmal, it’s now about getting his career back on track. You’d like to think that the young midfielder will see plenty of minutes in the Segunda Division next season, while hoping he can help Almeria earn promotion back into La Liga in the not too distant future.

Again, it just comes back to United’s academy being overflowing with talent. Puigmal is a great footballer within his own right, it’s just that he was always going to find opportunities limited due to how stacked the talent pool is at the AON Training Complex right now.

Sometimes, you just have to move on to further your career and we cannot fault Puigmal for recognising that – particularly in a contract year.

I’ll be following Almeria even closely next year now that Puigmal and Ramazani are both there. Hopefully, they enjoy their football in 2021/22.

All the best, Arnau!
