Arsenal eyeing move for Man United’s Marcus Rashford

Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of making a sensational move for Man United striker, Marcus Rashford.

It’s certainly fair to say that Marcus Rashford isn’t exactly flavour of the month at the moment. In fact, quite the opposite. The Englishman’s lack of effort against Chelsea last night was borderline disgraceful. Fans were rightly fuming.

Rashford’s long-term future at United is far from certain. He’s had a very six months since returning from injury, with performances getting worse rather than better.

Live on Sky Sports last night, Jamie Redknapp suggested that it’s perhaps best for all involved if Rashford moves on. I don’t quite agree as I still believe there’s a top player in there somewhere.

However, Football Insider talk up Arsenal as a very real destination for Rashford – should he so choose to leave Old Trafford.

The United star has been identified as a ‘leading target’ for the fellow Premier League club, with Mikel Arteta setting aside somewhere around £45million in order to acquire a new forward this summer.

It’s stated that a move to the Emirates could appeal to the speedster Rashford, who is looking to reignite his career after being dropped from the latest England squad.

Rashford has struggled mightily since returning from shoulder surgery, with his all-round game looking exactly the same as it did when he first broke into the first team a half-decade ago.

There’s no doubt the ability is still there for Rashford, though he seems to have lost that desire and hunger which made him one of the best players at the club.

I’d like to think the appointment of Erik ten Hag could help out the 24-year-old, but if he doesn’t want to be here, then I would let him leave this summer due to his contract situation. His current deal expires in 2023 (though United have the option for a further year). If he refuses to put pen to paper on new terms, then his price-tag will never be higher than it is right now.
