Arsenal are apparently keeping a close eye on the Marcus Rashford situation, with the striker still yet to sign a new deal.
Every now and then, there are sometimes those weird transfer rumours that leave you with a perplexed look on your face.
Today’s version of that comes from Football Insider. They link Arsenal with a move to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. No, really…
As we all know, Rashford is yet to put pen on paper on new terms here in Manchester, with the club having until summer 2024 to sort a contract out for the in-form Englishman.
FI write that the fellow Premier League club are ‘monitoring the situation’ of the key United star, ‘amid continued uncertainty’ over his new contract.
The 25-year-old was on Arsenal’s radar last year, with Mikel Arteta registering his interest with the player’s camp.
Understandably, the Red Devils have no intention of selling the man with 21 goals and eight assists this season, though they’ll be concerned about the fact that no new deal has yet been signed by Rashford.
Rumours were pretty common over the summer, with Rashford heavily linked with a move to PSG – though that was before Erik ten Hag came in and took charge.
If I’m being honest, I still don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion that Rashford stays at United. There’s a possibility he’ll want to move elsewhere – which I fully understand.
However, I do not see Rashford side-stepping to Arsenal. The Englishman will want to move somewhere where trophies are an absolute certainty, hence why a move to Paris would make sense.
In the end, I’d like to think that Ten Hag can convince him to stay with his boyhood club, though it’ll be intriguing to see how this one plays out…
