AS Roma are looking at a move to potentially sign David de Gea this summer.
For the last decade, Manchester United have always had a safe pair of hands in David de Gea. The Spaniard is someone who the club has been able to trust in wholeheartedly, coming up huge whenever the Red Devils need him the most.
As things stand, De Gea’s deal expires in a few months’ time, with no new terms agreed to yet, despite ongoing talks.
De Gea is willing to take a pay cut to stay at the club. Probably because he realises that he’ll not be offered such lucrative wages elsewhere.
As was expected, De Gea is not going to be short on options in terms of other clubs. The latest report comes from Fichajes (in Spanish). They state that AS Roma are considering a move to sign the out-of-contract United star this summer.
Manager Jose Mourinho is seemingly looking at bringing in a new keeper. Who better than the man he worked with for a couple of years in Manchester?
In an ideal world, United will tie De Gea down to a new contract, while they bring in a younger understudy who can learn from the Spaniard – with a view to replacing him in the long run.
I guess it comes down to what De Gea wants in his career. Is he content at staying in Manchester and becoming a genuine club hero? Or does he want to test the waters elsewhere? If it’s the latter, we can’t argue with him as he’s been a wonderful servant.
In my personal opinion, he’ll end up staying here and penning a new deal, though you simply cannot blame other clubs from sniffing around.
