AS Roma hold talks with Man United about taking Alexis Sanchez on loan: report

For Manchester United fans, the transfer window didn’t go as well as they’d have liked.

Amongst the players who we were all expecting to leave was Alexis Sanchez. After some positive words about the Chilean in his pre-match press conference yesterday, it looked as if United’s #7 was here to stay – well that may not be the case…

According to The Telegraph, talks have been held between Manchester United and AS Roma, about the prospect of taking the struggling 30-year-old on loan for Manchester United this season.

Apparently, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signalled his faith in Anthony Martial as the centre-forward, by handing him the #9 jersey just yesterday…

Any loan arrangement, while far from certain, would likely entail United paying a large portion of his £391,000-a-week basic wage packet – as let’s be honest, nobody in their right mind would willingly pay him that amount of money…

It’s an unfortunate situation for all involved. Sanchez was exceptional at Arsenal before making the move to the Theatre of Dreams, but his form over the last eighteen months has been absolutely shocking.

The start to his 2019/20 campaign has already started slowly due to his participation (and subsequent injury from) the Copa America. He’s just always been up against it and I fear he’s going to struggle again this season – wherever he ends up playing his football.
