Ashley Young: Manchester United can win the Champions League

The hype around Manchester United has been building this week, with the Red Devils kicking off their Champions League knockout campaign against Seville.

Ahead of the huge clash, Ashley Young has been speaking to the media about all things Red Devils. The England international has claimed that it’s a massive week for Manchester United, as they take on Chelsea as well as Sevilla over the next few days.

Youngy was also asked about whether his side could go all the way in the Champions League, and as you’d imagine, the make-shift left-back was in extremely confident mood.

“It’s a massive week,” Young told ManUtd.com. “We had to get ourselves back to winning ways [at Huddersfield Town] after last weekend [at Newcastle United]. We’ve got a tough game against Sevilla away and we’ve got to concentrate on that.

“We can’t look too far ahead. Obviously, we know we have got Chelsea coming up and Sevilla is the next game and that’s where our thoughts are.

“Can we win the Champions League? Of course. You don’t enter a competition not to win it. That’s what we will be looking to do and take each game as it comes. The next one is against Sevilla. We just have to concentrate on ourselves.”

It has been ten years since we’ve last lifted the great trophy, and what a tribute to the Busby Babes it’d be if United could get their hands on it this year.

However, we have to be realistic about our chances, and we all know it’s going to be tough. It’s been years since we’ve even made a decent run in European football’s premier competition, but Jose Mourinho does have a talented group of lads at his disposal; particularly in the final third.

When the draw was made I was relatively happy with going up against Sevilla. They’re not one of the big-boys in the competition, but it’ll be a great starting assignment for United, allowing the lads to ease into the tournament.
