Manchester United is a club that has often played host to their fair share of legends at any one time. However, in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson days, those guys have been few and far between.
Within the current squad, Ashley Young is one of those faces amongst the longest-serving, most loyal players who’ll go down as a Reds icon. The now 34-year-old has always given his all for the badge on his chest and I genuinely don’t have a bad word to say about him.
However, according to the BBC, the versatile Man Utd star has opened transfer talks with European giants Inter Milan.
It is currently understood no decision has been made by United about whether Young will be allowed to leave this month. However, his future is expected to become clearer over the next 24 hours.
With six months left on his current deal, Young could either leave the Reds during this window for a cut-price fee or walk away for free in the summer. He can already speak to teams about signing on some sort of pre-contractual agreement before moving on when the end-of-season transfer window opens.
It does seem as though Young will be moving on, but I seriously hope it’s in the summer as opposed to January. We need his experience, we need is leadership and above all else, we need more players, not less!
