Manchester United Football Club have certainly been better in the transfer market under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – in terms of both incomings and outgoings.
The Red Devils’ work is continuing in the January transfer window, and I guess this latest piece of news was expected after Ashley Young told the club he’d never play for them again…
Anyway, the story comes from the BBC’s Simon Stone, who confirmed that a £1.3m fee has been agreed with Inter Milan for the transfer of the versatile United star – who is now all set for a January exit. In a follow-up tweet, Simon Stone added that Young will have his medical tomorrow.
As ever, the deal is subject to personal terms and the passing of said medical – however, you’d imagine they’ll be no problem in that regard.
Credit where it’s due. To get even a minimal fee for a 34-year-old with a winding down contract is pretty decent business – while the Reds could be owed even more money if Inter can win the Serie A this term.
As for Youngy, he has been a wonderful servant to United, though the fact that he refused to play for the club in order to push through his move to Milan does sting a little. The fans were all willing to wish him well up until that point, though for many, those bridges were now burned.
Either way, we appreciate everything he’s done for us, though the timing does feel right to let him go.
Cheers for everything, Youngy!
