Ashley Young has been a fantastic servant to Manchester United. Sure, his best years may well be behind him, but the former Aston Villa man has given his all for the badge on his chest.
Starting out as a winger, before gradually moving backwards, Youngy has seen his minutes deteriorate due to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s arrival and the emergence of Brandon Williams. Now, an Old Trafford exit is close.
The story comes from the BBC, who claim that the versatile Man United star is set to leave on a free transfer to Inter Milan – when his contract expires at the season’s end. However, the deal could yet happen this month, though the Red Devils are yet to agree to that.
First and foremost, if Antonio Conte likes so many of our players why doesn’t he just become United manager?! Jokes aside, Inter will be getting a cracking footballer when the Young deal eventually goes through.
With Young now into the final six months of his deal, he’s free to talk to overseas clubs about signing a pre-contractual agreement before sealing a Bosman move in the summer. It seems as though his destination is Milan. Heck, there are certainly worse places to enjoy one final hurrah.
Honestly, good luck to him. Young deserves nothing but love from the Old Trafford Faithful – though I do hope we keep him until the summer.
