Manchester United’s Juan Mata famously arrived at Carrington in a helicopter just over 13 months ago ahead of his transfer, but their desire in keeping the Spaniard is about to be tested by Atletico Madrid, according to the Sun on Sunday.
Diego Simeone wants Mata to be his new #10 in Madrid next season, and it is thought that the 26-year old would seriously consider a move back to his homeland having not started a league game for United since being hauled off at half-time away at QPR last month.
Many expected Juan Mata to make much more of an impact than he has done at his stint at United so far, but sadly that hasn’t materialised – often due to him being played out of position.
If Madrid were to offer us Koke, Diego Godin or Antoine Griezmann in return then this is a deal United should seriously consider.
