Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid centre-back, Miranda. According to The Express, Atletico are prepared to accept a £20million bid from Manchester United for the Brazilian – which is £4million less than his current £24million release clause.
Atletico are ready to let their man go because he is now the wrong side of 30, and in recent weeks the emergence of the young Uruguayan centre-back Jose Giminez. United aren’t willing to pay the full £24million for a 30-year old, and are looking to pay less than £20million for his services if possible.
Miranda himself is believed to be desperate to make the move happen, despite Atletico’s participation in the latter stages of the Champions League.
I’d personally prefer to see Diego Godin come in instead of Miranda, but theres no doubting Miranda would be a definite upgrade on a back four that is currently struggling for any kind of stability.
