Attacker confirms he’s joined Manchester United on social media: report

Manchester United have seemingly agreed a deal to sign ex-Ajax attacker Millen Baars, according to The Metro. They claim that the 16-year-old has updated his Instagram profile, where it now reads that he is a ‘footballer for Manchester United’.

Baars was spotted by Red Devils scout Marcel Bout last year when working under Louis van Gaal, but the winger retained a spot on Jose Mourinho’s shortlist after a change in management, and now a move looks set to be all done.

I think it tells you all you need to know when the aforementioned report from The Metro claims that both Chelsea and Arsenal were interested in bringing him in. To me, that suggests he’s a brilliantly gifted individual, and he should fit in seamlessly with the rest of our youth side.

Mourinho seems to be paying plenty of attention to our academy this year. This latest move comes after a deal for youngsters Ethan Galbraith and ex-PSG man Aliou Badara Traore.

United have always been known for nurturing and harnessing young talents, and it seems as though the club aren’t going to be breaking traditions despite the heavy spending we’ve seen recently.

Of course, there is no guarantee that these guys are going to make it at the highest level, but it is certainly a gamble worth taking.
