Axel Tuanzebe set to stay at Man United for pre-season: report

Manchester United seemed to have forgotten the art of defending over the last few seasons. Having players like Phil Jones and Chris Smalling starting regularly doesn’t whatsoever, mind…

It’s time for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to try something different and attempt to move this club into a different direction. It seems as though the Baby Faced Assassin is turning towards youth in an effort to do exactly that.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror on Sunday, it is being claimed that Aston Villa have been dealt a ‘transfer blow’ as Axel Tuanzebe will not be joining them on a permanent basis.

Instead, Solskjaer wants the youngster to stay at Old Trafford for pre-season at the very least – as he looks to ‘gauge the development’ of the talented 21-year-old…

Although sidelined for a fair while, Tuanzebe was integral part of a Villa team who earned promotion via the Championship play-offs, with the United loanee putting in some commanding performances against West Brom and Derby County.

Genuinely, I’d much prefer minutes to be given to Tuanzebe than the likes of Marcos Rojo and the aforementioned Jones. At least the youngster still has room to grow and improve as a player, while we know exactly what we’re going to get from the other two…

Tuanzebe is still raw, but there’s a hunger, a desire, and most importantly, a leader there. If he gets an early-season opportunity and plays well, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him earn his place as a regular Red Devils starter next season.
