Axel Tuanzebe signs new three-year Manchester United contract

What a day. Manchester United announced a new deal for Andreas Pereira earlier, with a second new contract being confirmed just an hour or so later.

The Red Devils have announced that United’s 21-year-old starlet, Axel Tuanzebe, has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.

Tuanzebe has signed a new three-year deal, with the club holding the option for a fourth season should they wish to trigger the clause.

Coming through the United academy system, Tuanzebe has been with the club for a huge fourteen years. After becoming the youngest player to captain the Red Devil’s youth side, the centre-back has grown from strength-to-strength – and he’s more than deserving of his chance to shine at the Theatre of Dreams.

As you can see from the photo below, he looked all-smiles standing alongside his manager, after putting pen to paper.

His time is now. After an excellent spell on loan at Aston Villa, Tuanzebe is finally going to get his chance to impress.

It all starts on pre-season tour. If the youngster plays well don’t be surprised to see him be integrated into the first-team squad throughout the 2019/20 season. After all, he can’t do any worse than Phil Jones or Marcos Rojo, so I say he’s worth taking a risk on as the talent is obviously there.

After signing the deal, Tuanzebe said:

“I have grown up at Manchester United and it has always been a big part of my life and my family’s life. I appreciate the trust that the club has in me and I want to repay that with my performances on the pitch.

“I know I have a lot of hard work and learning ahead of me but the experience I gained throughout last season puts me in good stead for the future ahead. I am determined to give everything and show everyone the player that I can be.

“I can’t wait for the tour to get started and to see what the upcoming season brings.”

Solskjaer added:

“Axel is a great example of the type of player that has come through the Manchester United system. He is humble, hard-working, talented and a team player.

“He had a successful time on loan with Aston Villa and has gained a lot of experience from that spell, which ended in promotion to the Premier League. He will come on the pre-season tour with us which will help his development further.”

Congratulations, Axel!
