Axel Tuanzebe is looking to seal a permanent transfer away from Manchester United.
Manchester United Football Club made some massive signings over the summer, including the likes of Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Naturally, it means some players will have to leave as a way to balance the books. Amongst those who have left this summer is Axel Tuanzebe. The centre-back, who is highly regarded at Old Trafford, has headed back to Aston Villa on a season-long loan.
Now, according to The Sun, the 37-appearance United star wants to make his Reds exit a permanent one. It’s his wish he’ll join Villa for good.
Apparently, Tuanzebe is ‘playing with a smile on his face’ with the Midlands outfit, with the defender delighted to be playing on a regular basis.
Everyone knows Tuanzebe is an incredibly gifted young man, though minutes have always been hard to come by at Old Trafford. It feels like Varane’s arrival was the final straw.
Whether United have different intentions for Tuanzebe remains to be seen. The defender is still considered a first-team level player, though right now, he’s quite far down the pecking order.
For Tuanzebe, it’s now about impressing for Villa and seeing what happens. If he plays well enough, I don’t doubt that Dean Smith will sanction an offer to sign the defender permanently. If Tuanzebe struggles, we may well be back to square one in nine months time.
Personally, I still hold belief that Tuanzebe can make an impression, though inconsistency in his game definitely worries me – particularly with Teden Mengi, who is almost five years younger, emerging too.
I guess a lot can happen in the space of a year and this is a move that’ll undoubtedly be revisited next summer.
