Eric Bailly and Jesse Lingard are both injured, according to Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Baby Faced Assassin conducted his usual pre-match press conference ahead of our game against Chelsea earlier today. During which, he hinted that Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Harry Maguire may all be available.
However, Solskjaer also confirmed a double injury blow, revealing that the first-team duo of Bailly and Lingard will be unavailable for a few weeks…
As we covered earlier this week, Bailly’s injury is thought to be muscular. Our Ivorian centre-half just cannot catch a break at the moment. Which again, only raises further concern about whether it’s actually time to move on from the defender.
In regards to Lingard, this is a fresh problem and we’re still unsure as to what area is affected. It will likely rule him out of the Red Devils’ next few games, though, which certainly eats into our squad depth…
Check out what Solskjaer had to say in regard to both Bailly and Lingard being injured:
“Eric won’t be available. Jesse won’t be available so we’ll manage without them for a few weeks I think.” Solskjaer told ManUtd.com.
While we’ve heard better news on the likes of Maguire, Greenwood and Cavani, losing any players for a prolonged period of time isn’t ideal. With United competing in the Champions League too, we need all the help we can get.
I know he’s had his critics, but Lingard can do a job for this side. His movement and off-ball intelligence is still unmatched within the squad. As for Bailly, he’s probably our third-choice centre-back at the moment and losing him puts pressure on captain Maguire and Victor Lindelof to keep feeling fit and fresh.
My best guess is both guys will miss United’s five games before the next international break. Then, provided they suffer no setbacks, they’ll be available for selection against West Bromwich Albion on November 21st…
Get well soon, lads!
