Donny van de Beek could well be playing his football elsewhere in the not too distant future…
Last summer, Manchester United spent pretty big to bring in Donny van de Beek from Ajax. The Dutchman started well, but his form quickly faded.
The 24-year-old found himself amongst the substitutes more often than not, which is obviously less than ideal for a man who played a key part in his side’s Champions League semi-final run just a year prior.
Now, it looks like his days in the famous United Red strip are numbered…
According to Sport, Van de Beek’s departure from the Reds is ‘almost assured’ following a lack of playing time. The #34 would leave as early as January, if possible. His desire to exit is why the midfield also hired a different agent last week, as he looks to force a move away from Old Trafford.
The good news for Van de Beek is that there is interest in him. FC Barcelona are reportedly ‘attentive’ to the 24-year-old’s situation with United. Sport also add that due to the good relationship between player and club, Barca could make their move for Van de Beek in the mid-season window.
Following a lack of playing time at Old Trafford, with very little trust placed in Van de Beek by the manager, it makes perfect sense to let him leave as soon as possible.
What’s the point in letting Van de Beek waste away on the bench at this stage of his career? The sooner the Reds decide to move on from the Dutchman, the better transfer fee they’ll get for letting him go.
No doubt if Van de Beek does move to Barca, he will do well. I just genuinely want the best for the player at this point in time.
