Within this Manchester United squad, there are holes galore. Good luck to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as I’ve got no idea where he should start…
The Red Devils attack has looked toothless at times over the last twelve months and I guess that more firepower is never a bad thing. According to Calciomercato, a new attacker is seemingly on the agenda.
Their report states that ex-Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho can leave FC Barcelona, while United, amongst others, are interested in signing the 26-year-old Brazilian.
Coutinho’s season has been pretty disappointing, scoring eleven goals and tacking on five assists in all competitions (including a corker against United). The Spanish crowd is always a tough one to please, and a move away from the Camp Nou could well be possible this summer.
Would I want him at Old Trafford? I’m just not sure. A large part of that is his Liverpool connections, plus, I’m keen on United moving away from the big-name signings. Instead, I’d much prefer them to focus on adding younger, lesser-known players to the squad in an effort to change the mentality around the place.
You cannot deny Coutinho’s talent, though. He was great for Liverpool in the Premier League, although if Solskjaer did want to sign him, I’d imagine he wouldn’t come cheap…
