Manchester United’s struggles were obvious last season. There was only a handful of players who came away with any credit whatsoever.
Amongst those was Victor Lindelof. Now he’s attracting some big-time interest from FC Barcelona… That’s according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, who say that the La Liga champions ‘want’ the 24-year-old Man United star…
Apparently, their manager Ernesto Valverde was impressed with Lindelof during the two-legged Champions League quarter-final against the Catalan giants – and he’s identified the Ice Man as a target should their move for Matthijs de Ligt fail.
The report from MD says that Barca believe the Old Trafford club could sell Lindelof for a good price, and they’ve actually contacted the Reds ‘several times’. United’s response has remained the same: a simple ‘no thanks’ as they look to keep ahold of the one defensive bright spark from the 2018/19 campaign.
I think this just highlights Lindelof’s talent. It did take him a season or so to fully settle into life in England, but he was pretty solid (for the most part anyway) over the last twelve months.
Now United to go all-out and find him the perfect partner. I still hold the opinion that Eric Bailly could be that man but his injury worries have continued. The latest story in terms of potential centre-half targets came in a story we covered from Sky Sports News earlier, as they say United are willing to pay £65m to sign Harry Maguire.
