FC Barcelona are looking to sign Diogo Dalot from Man United.

Manchester United Football Club absolutely have taken several steps backwards over the last decade.

The Old Trafford club, under the guidance of David Moyes to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with a little Jose Mourinho in the middle, have fallen off the top of the Premier League mountain.

One of Erik ten Hag’s dreams is to restore the Red Devils’ place as the best in the country. The early signs are certainly positive.

Amongst the biggest benefactors of the new regime is Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese international has been enjoying a good season with the Dutchman at the helm. But now he’s being targeted by FC Barcelona.

It’s Fichajes with the report. They believe that strengthening their right-hand side is amongst Barca’s top priorities. Initially, Juan Foyth was the top target. However, the United star has ‘now surpassed’ Foyth as the Catalan sides’ top priority.

The 23-year-old, who was considered one of the ‘great jewels’ of European football as a teenager, is starting to live up to the hype. As things stand, Dalot is considered a regular starter at Old Trafford. You can bet your bottom dollar that Ten Hag does not want to part with the Portugal international.

Where this gets interesting is Dalot’s contractual situation. He has just a year left on his current deal, meaning we’re at that point where a renewal could absolutely happen in the not-too-distant future. You do get the impression that Dalot is happy here in Manchester though these latest reports probably adds an extra £20k-a-week onto his weekly wage demands.

I’d like to think that Dalot will make this news irrelevant by putting pen to paper in the not too distant future.
