Manchester United could well make one move on transfer deadline day, but clubs are clearly already planning for the summer. The Daily Mail are now claiming that Juan Mata is being targeted by FC Barcelona for a summer move, and contact has already been made.
SportsMail go on to say that meetings have taken place over the last few months, but as of yet no official bid has been made by the Catalan giants.
Mata is a fan favourite at Old Trafford, but his performances recently haven’t been all-that outstanding – and you’d certainly expect more from a £37million player.
If Barcelona firm up their interest with a bid over the summer, offering United somewhere close to what they paid for him two years ago, it’d certainly be worth considering selling him and investing that money in a player more suited to Manchester United’s current style of play.
